Nambu Tekki Cast Iron Kettle - Small Arare Pattern
Nambu Tekki Cast Iron Kettle - Small Arare Pattern
The Small Cast Iron Kettle by Oitomi, renowned for crafting Nambu ironware, features the iconic arare pattern. Equipped with a tea strainer, this compact iron kettle doubles as a teapot.
While it’s comparable in size to a standard teapot, it can be used directly over an open flame. Unlike typical Nambu iron teapots with enamel coatings that prevent iron supplementation, this teapot is uncoated, allowing you to enjoy the added benefit of natural iron release, just like a traditional iron kettle.

A Teapot That Supplies Iron
This petite Nanbu Tekki teapot, crafted by Oitomi, features the signature arare pattern and is designed for both functionality and tradition. Equipped with a tea strainer, it serves perfectly as a teapot while retaining the durability and authenticity of a cast iron kettle.
Though it matches the typical size of a standard teapot, this iron kettle can also be used directly over an open flame. Unlike many Nanbu Tekki teapots, which are often enamel-coated and do not release iron into the water, this kettle is uncoated. This thoughtful design allows you to enjoy the health benefits of iron intake, just like a traditional cast iron kettle.
Traditional Arare Pattern
The surface of this kettle features the traditional arare (hailstone) pattern, commonly seen in Nambu ironware. The design is crafted with a subtle gradient, with the arare dots gradually becoming smaller from the base to the lid.
How to Care
- After a light rinse, dry the kettle by heating it over very low heat.
- Please be careful not to overheat it or cool it abruptly after heating, as this may cause the kettle to crack.
Important Notes
- The actual size, weight, and capacity of the kettle may vary slightly due to the manufacturing process.
- When using on IH stoves with 200V or higher, please operate on low to medium heat.
- Do not use detergent, sponges, or scrubbing brushes for cleaning.
- The reaction between tea tannins and iron may cause the tea's color to darken if left in the kettle, but this is harmless and safe.
